Welcome!

Welcome to my website!

You can find information about myself and my work as a Member of the German Parliament on this site. I am a member of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and the Sub-Committee on Health in Developing Countries and a deputy member of the Committee on the Affairs of the European Union.

Furthermore, I am a substitute for the German delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Since the 25 February 2010, I am a member of the Committee on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men and a member of the Sub-Committee on trafficking in human beings.

In this context, I want to share certain documents in English and where possible in further languages (French, Spanish, Portuguese). I hope they will provide you a helpful insight.

You can also find me on Facebook and Flickr.

Best wishes,

Press Releases

Westerwelle cuts budget for UNICEF by 28 per cent
It would seem that the CDU/CSU-FDP German government does not greatly value the important global work, recognised worldwide, which is carried out
by the United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF: funding for UNICEF has been cut from 6.5 million euros to 4.675 million euros. This represents a
reduction of over 28 per cent. The government is thus riding roughshod over the rights of children.'

  World Health Day 2010
The SPD parliamentary party calls on the federal government to take the importance of infant and maternal mortality within the context of the development cooperation seriously and provide the necessary financial and human resources. Urgent action is needed. Action plans against maternal deaths are required. In countries which are particularly affected, they need to be implemented immediately to improve the situation until 2015.
